The 4th Annual Conference on Environment and Sustainability has begun
Under the theme ‘Peace, Planet and Sustainable Development’, this conference brings together renowned experts and personalities today at the Baião Municipal Auditorium to discuss the major environmental and social challenges of today.
The session was opened by the Mayor of Baião, Paulo Pereira.
Augusto Santos Silva, former President of the Assembly of the Republic, is currently reflecting on Peace and Sustainability in the current global context.
At 3:45 p.m., a Panel Discussion will begin on the theme “Climate Crisis; Threat to Peace; Democracy and Sustainable Development,” with contributions from Major General Filipe Arnaut Moreira, Helena Carreiras, Vice-Rector of ISCTE and former Minister of Defence, and Luís Amado, economist and former Minister of Foreign Affairs.
At 6 p.m., Paulo Portas, former Deputy Prime Minister and Vice-President of the Portuguese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, will give a speech.
The discussion will be moderated by Inês Cardoso, Editorial Director of Jornal de Notícias, and Paula Nunes da Silva, presenter of the Planeta Verde programme on Porto Canal.
The Municipality of Baião is officially certified as a Sustainable Tourist Destination, a recognition that reinforces its commitment to environmental preservation, responsible tourism, balanced development and the enhancement of the territory.
