This morning, Águas do Norte, S.A. held an initiative at the School Centre of the Agrupamento de Escolas do Sudeste de Baião, in Santa Marinha do Zêzere, to raise awareness of the importance of water and the need to save this essential resource for life.
The initiative, organised by Rui Sousa, from Águas do Norte, was attended by 58 students and teachers from the 3rd and 4th grades of the school, who were actively involved in the fun activities.
As part of Baião’s Municipal Environmental Education Strategy (EMEA), the event was attended by the councillor responsible for the environment, Henrique Ribeiro, who stressed the vital importance of water and gave some advice on how to rationalise consumption and reduce waste.
Also present were the municipality’s technicians responsible for organising the awareness campaign, which was a way of celebrating World Water Day.
World Water Day is celebrated annually on 22 March with the aim of drawing attention to the importance of fresh water and advocating sustainable use and control of drinking water resources.
