As part of the Annual Activities Plan proposed by the municipality to the school groups in the municipality of Baião, 131 8th grade students took part in a visit to the Resinorte landfill and sorting plant in Celorico de Basto on 12, 16 and 19 April.
This initiative is part of the aim of raising awareness and encouraging habits that will lead to an increase in waste separation and, as a result, a reduction in the amount of waste sent to landfill, in order to achieve the desired targets. This is a priority area for the municipality – a Sustainable Tourist Destination – which has environmental quality and sustainability as important pillars for its development, leading to a constant improvement in the quality of life of the people of Bahia.
On this visit, the students had the opportunity to observe the entire waste separation and treatment process.
After lunch in the Amarante Forest Park, they visited the permanent exhibitions at the Amadeo Souza Cardoso museum and a temporary exhibition by Mário Cesariny.
