Baião City Council is carrying out the first washing and sanitising of the rubbish containers (undifferentiated solid urban waste) for 2025. This work is being carried out in collaboration with a company specialising in the sector.
The work includes more than 1000 containers distributed throughout all the parishes that are part of the municipal rubbish collection circuits. In places that are difficult to access, where the cleaning and disinfection lorry is unable to operate, the containers will be gradually replaced by the municipal services.
The containers are washed and disinfected both inside and out, using products with bactericidal and insect repellent properties. This process, promoted by the municipality since 2013, has the main objective of improving health and cleanliness in all parishes, without interfering with the normal operation of rubbish collection or the use of bins by residents. Thanks to the efficiency of this procedure, the bins will be available for use again in no time.
An appeal to residents
The efficient management of the waste service relies on the contribution of all citizens. As such, Baião Town Council urges residents to:
- Put household rubbish in well-sealed bags, preventing loose waste from dirtying the bins or causing bad odours.
- Make sure that the lids of the bins are always closed after use, helping to keep the equipment in good condition.
- Look for an alternative bin if the nearest one is full, avoiding throwing rubbish away.
- Adopt the principles of Reduce, Reuse and Recycle, contributing to a cleaner and more sustainable environment.
Baião Town Council emphasises that caring for the environment is everyone’s responsibility.
Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.
