World Environment Day

Today is World Environment Day, a day that invites us to reflect on each person’s role in preserving the planet.
Established by the UN, this day commemorates the urgent need to protect ecosystems, combat climate change, and promote a greener, more just future for all.
This year marks a global mobilization against plastic pollution, an essential step toward achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
With the motto, Beat Plastic Pollution (#BeatPlasticPollution), the campaign seeks to inspire individuals, organizations, and governments to adopt sustainable practices, promoting systemic changes in the fight against pollution.
It is a global call to action, and Baião responds with commitment and determination.
With approximately 70% of its territory covered by natural ecosystems, Baião stands out for its balance between development and environmental preservation, promoting sustainable policies that value natural heritage, sustainable tourism, and ecological practices. To mark this event, the exhibition will be on display at the Municipal Auditorium until June 17th, when the 4th Annual Conference on Environment and Sustainability and the Traveling Exhibition of the 2024 International Nature Image Festival will be held.
The Baião City Hall will also hold a training session on good environmental practices in the workplace, aimed at municipal employees.
In Baião, the environment is not just a resource—it is identity, it is future, it is commitment.
