Baião celebrates National Sustainability Day with awareness campaign
As part of the celebrations for National Sustainability Day on 25 September, the Environment Unit of Baião Municipal Council will hold an awareness session for senior citizens, focusing on the importance of proper waste management.
The session will take place at the Teixeira Community Relations Centre (CRC) from 2.30 pm and will be attended by users of the Teixeira and Viariz CRCs. The aim is to raise awareness of the importance of sustainability and promote conscious behaviour that contributes to a more sustainable future.
To this end, it will count on the collaboration of RESINORTE, the entity responsible for urban waste management in the territory, and social action teams, who will support the organisation and monitoring of the activity.
The choice of 25 September for National Sustainability Day is linked to the adoption of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, which was approved on 25 September 2015 by the UN General Assembly.
Portugal has therefore aligned its national celebration with the date on which the international community made a global commitment to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
