ANMP “Smart Cities” Section of Municipalities held meeting

The Municipalities Section “Smart Cities” of the ANMP – National Association of Portuguese Municipalities, created due to the importance that municipalities attribute to the reinvention of urban spaces, making them more creative, innovative, sustainable, inclusive, participatory and connected, met last day January 17th, with the following agenda:

1. Election of the Board of the Section

2. Planning of section activities: Smart Tour, Summit of Mayors, Stimulation of the Portuguese delegation to the World Fair of Smart Cities

3. Other matters of interest

The section is now chaired by Pedro Folgado, mayor of Alenquer. The mayor of Pombal, Pedro Pimpão, and the mayor of Tomar, Anabela Freitas, assume the vice-presidency of this Board.

The meeting was attended by the Deputy Mayor of Baião, Filipe Fonseca, and a member of the “Green Team”, Manuel Pereira, the team responsible for the certification process of Baião as a Sustainable Tourist Destination.

The “Smart Cities” concept encompasses the implementation of innovative measures in key areas – sustainability, mobility, energy, environment, buildings, governance, citizen participation in public life, efficiency in the management of available resources – increasing the quality of life of citizens and of visitors.
