Committed to the continuity of policies to defend the forest and preserve the green area of the territory, the Baião Council invested 181 thousand euros in the purchase of 2 vehicles – a mini-loader and a backhoe, which, in addition to other purposes, will allow to reinforce even more the response capacity with regard to the prevention of rural fires, namely with regard to the strategic management measures of forest fuels included in the Municipal Plan for the Defense of the Forest Against Fires.
In 2022, 278.1 hectares of cleaning were carried out in strips of the primary and secondary network and in mosaics of fuel management plots. 54.4 kilometers of the forest road network were also benefitted.
The Mayor underlined the importance of investing in a “county that has been reinforcing its commitment to Tourism, having its natural heritage as one of its main assets and the sustainability of the territory as one of its objectives”, guaranteed Paulo Pereira.
