On the 27th of April, an online training session was held, on the theme Sustainable Management of Tourist Destinations – Quality and Certification, promoted by Turismo de Portugal, with the contribution of the technician Dora Pinto on behalf of Baião.
The session also had other participants: João Aragão, from Galomar Hoterl e Resort, from Madeira, Patrícia Marques, from Inspira Hotel, from Lisbon and Joana Travessas, from Casa das Palmeiras – Nature Houses & Pedagogic Farm, from Mangualde.
This training aimed to present practical cases of processes for obtaining certifications in the area of sustainability, such as the Green Key, Travel Life, Green Globe, among others.
Baião presented its distinction with the “Silver Award” EarthCheck.
Among the topics discussed, emphasis was given to the curiosity expressed by participants and tour operators regarding the certification process of Baião as a “Sustainable Tourist Destination”, recognized and validated by the international organization Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC), being the first municipality in the country to achieve such a distinction.
