During the months of September and October, with the harvest taking place, Baião records a greater accumulation of glass waste. A fact that results from the cleaning of cellars and the consequent disposal of tons of glass bottles and demijohns in the trash.
In 2022, 100 tons of glass were collected in our municipality, through the selective collection service, in the months of August, September and October. However, a lot of glass was placed along with the unsorted waste, ending up in landfill.
We can all contribute to increasing glass recycling!
Baião City Council calls on all citizens to place glass waste in their recycling bin.
Everyone’s collaboration, separating the glass packaging and placing them in the recycling bin, is essential.
When glass is placed in the green recycling bin, it is not sent to landfill and, therefore, does not become waste, being recycled.
COLLECTION OF LARGE QUANTITIES OF GLASS
In case of accumulation of quantities of glass – bottles and carboys – with a volume greater than 1 m3, citizens can contact Baião City Council to check the possibility of door-to-door collection.
