Green Team participates in several initiatives in the area of ​​sustainability of the territories

The Green Team, the team responsible for the Baião: Sustainable Tourist Destination process, was present in several initiatives within the scope of the sustainability of the territories. The main focus of these sessions was to promote a debate on local responses to global challenges, under the motto “Think Global, Act Local”.

Valongo – Initiative “European Caravan for Greener Cities through Participatory Budgeting”, which aimed to share innovative practices and knowledge on how Participatory Budgets can be a mechanism to make communities more environmentally sustainable. This caravan includes a set of conferences and events spread over 5 participating European cities: Valongo, Edinburgh, Barcelona, ​​Saint-Égrève and Grenoble. The conference featured national and international speakers, including Professor Yves Cabannes, Emeritus Professor of Development Planning at University College London.

Porto – Conference “Sustainability and Certification of Tourist Destinations” in a joint organization with Th1nk and Green Destinations. An event where sustainability allied to the tourism sector and adaptation to correspond to the high level of tourist satisfaction were discussed. The conference featured three debate panels: “Touristic destinations: The importance of certification”, “Sustainable Tourism: local/regional development driver/factor” and “Promotion of tourist destinations: Evolution and good practices”. The opening session was in charge of the Secretary of State for Tourism, Commerce and Services, and was also attended by the President of the CIM-TS, the Vice-President of the TPNP, among other speakers and guests.

Braga – Session “Towards 2030 – Local agents in action”, promoted by the ODSlocal Platform, dedicated to the municipalities of the Alto Minho & Cávado & Ave & Tâmega e Sousa Intermunicipal Communities. The session aimed at promoting synergies between local actors and local ODS municipalities within the scope of the implementation of the 2030 Agenda in Portuguese territories.
