On the 8th of May, the third meeting of the “Green Team” was held, with the purpose of conducting the Baião: Sustainable Tourist Destination process and carrying out the necessary work to comply with the sustainability criteria of the certifying entity and the Global Tourism Council Sustainable.
This meeting had as agenda:
1. Presentation of the 2022 Sustainability Report;
2. Presentation of the measures developed to correct the non-conformities detected in the 2022 audit;
3. Implementation of the selective collection of biowaste in the Municipality of Baião – Presentation of the targets defined by the Portuguese Environment Agency for the municipality in 2030;
4. Global Code of Ethics for Tourism;
5. Other Matters.
In addition to the local authority technicians, the President of the Business Association of Baião, Maria Miguel Dinis Correia; the President of Eco Simbioses – Environmental and Cultural Association of Vale de Ovil, Sara Pereira and the Secretary General of AMDT – Association of Municipalities of Douro and Tâmega, Ricardo Magalhães.
The next certification renewal audit will take place on the 16th, 17th and 18th of May, with the presence of an external auditor.
