Municipal Youth Assembly promoted reflection on the present and future of Baião

Challenge youth to reflect, not only globally, but, in particular, on the municipality, presenting ideas and pointing out ways that lead to better development, with the implementation of policies that meet the needs of the population, especially the younger generations , was the purpose of the Municipal Assembly of Young People, which had its 13th edition, on the 3rd of May, in the Main Hall of the Town Hall. A return, after a three-year break, due to the conditions imposed by the pandemic.

About 5 dozen students from the three School Groupings participated – Vale de Ovil, Eiriz and Sudeste de Baião -, in a session in which the President of the Municipal Assembly, Armando Fonseca, was accompanied at the Plenary Table by the Mayor, Paulo Pereira, and young Érica Fonseca, from the Southeast School Group (AE); Leyre Ribeiro, from the Eiriz AE and Pedro Rocha, from the Vale de Ovil AE, who conducted the work.

The young speakers, taking the basic theme of the session, “Baião Sustainable Tourist Destination”, addressed various subjects related to their concerns, in reference to the current reality of the municipality and the challenges and desires in a look to the future.

Student Maria João Sousa, from the Southeast School Group, praised Baião’s commitment to Sustainability, as a way of “developing the present without compromising the future”, also underlining the importance of “balance” between the economic, social and economic sectors. environmental. Finally, he stressed the need to take care of the territory so that we can “keep pride in our origins”.
