The municipality made available ecopoints to place in the sports venues of the Baião Sports Association and Ancede Sports Association. In addition, it delivered ecobags intended for different spaces, such as changing rooms and support rooms.
With Baião being the first Portuguese municipality certified as a “Sustainable Tourist Destination”, these actions reinforce the Municipality’s commitment to sustainability, pointing towards a continuous improvement of environmental quality indices.
The “Green Team”, responsible for the certification process and for meeting the criteria of the certifying entity, EarthCheck, whose principles are established by the Global Council for Sustainable Tourism, sees this process as a demanding and permanent challenge and one of the objectives also involves the actions to raise awareness of the importance of separating waste for recycling, under the motto “Recycle always, everything and everywhere!”
This initiative will later be extended to other clubs and associations.
