This day raises awareness of the need for common principles to provide society with inspiration and a way to preserve and improve our environment, for the benefit of present and future generations, thus contributing to a more sustainable future.
World Environmental Education Day was established in 1975 by the United Nations to promote greater awareness of protecting the environment through education. It is imperative that everyone – citizens, communities, businesses and institutions – accept the responsibilities they have and that everyone participates equitably in this collective challenge.
“Education does not change the world, education changes people. People change the world!” (Paulo Freire)
