The municipality acquired two more new electric vehicles, thus continuing its commitment to sustainable mobility, with a view to greater savings and care for the environment.
These two vehicles will be assigned to the sectors of Urbanism and Social Action and represent an investment of approximately 45 thousand euros.
The municipal car fleet currently has seven 100% electric vehicles and this measure reinforces the commitment made by the Municipality in renewing the car fleet, machinery and equipment.
MORE SAVINGS AND ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY
The vice-president and councilor responsible for Social Action, Filipe Fonseca and the councilor responsible for Urbanism, Henrique Gaspar Ribeiro, went to the Municipal Warehouse to officially receive the vehicles.
Filipe Fonseca said that “the acquisition of this new vehicle, which will be allocated to Social Action services, comes as a result of the transfer of competences in this sector and, in addition to not harming the environment, also allows to mitigate the costs of travel and repairs, as well as makes it possible to provide a closer response within the scope of Social Action”.
“These more modern and efficient vehicles represent an important improvement both in environmental terms and in response to citizens and this measure reflects yet another commitment assumed with the local community, aiming at valuing Municipal Services, in terms of human and material resources, with the objective of providing an increasingly effective response to our citizens”.
For his part, the councilor for Urbanism, who also oversees the Environment department, Henrique Gaspar Ribeiro, stated that it is “important to have an environmental conscience and, in this sense, the renewal of the City Council fleet and the acquisition of these electric vehicles is yet another step towards sustainability.
We have already made several applications to the Environmental Fund for the acquisition of electric vehicles and we will continue on this path, since this is a goal to which we are committed, in order to favor environmental quality and move towards an increasingly sustainable future”.
