The Municipality of Baião has just reinforced its fleet with the acquisition of a new waste collection vehicle equipped with an advanced container washing system and a hydraulic reel for lifting platforms.
This investment was made in response to the need to continue to guarantee the efficiency of the collection services, especially at a time when the municipality has also started to carry out the selective collection of bio-waste, as well as for the progressive replacement of older vehicles that show signs of wear and tear.
The new vehicle, which will be primarily dedicated to the collection of bio-waste, is distinguished by its state-of-the-art technology. With a 100 per cent watertight collection box and adjustable compaction, the vehicle is designed to prevent waste from spilling onto the public highway, ensuring hygiene and environmental protection.
In addition, the system allows the compaction pressure to be adjusted directly from the cab, guaranteeing the preservation of the quality of the organic waste collected.
Another highlight is the integrated washing system, which will allow the containers to be sanitised regularly, an essential step in improving health conditions and combating bad odours.
With a useful capacity of 12m³ and advanced features, the vehicle promises to optimise collection processes and reduce environmental impact, minimising the need for frequent repairs and improving service reliability.
The councillor responsible for the environment, Henrique Ribeiro, emphasised the positive impact of this acquisition:
‘This new vehicle represents an important reinforcement in our operational capacity. It’s an investment that not only improves the efficiency of the waste collection service, but also significantly increases environmental quality and safety. We remain committed to providing an excellent service to the population, in line with current and future demands.’
Alongside this investment, it should be remembered that the municipality offers other free services, such as the collection of household rubbish, green waste and construction and demolition waste, as well as continuing to encourage home composting by offering composters.
